45 year old vines. 100% destemmed. One cask produced. New oak to start then into an older barrel. Deep red-garnet. Glorious nose of cherry, graphite, mocha, earth and stone. The nuances trade places as the wine sits in the glass. With air we see more spice. The fresh juice that is a hallmark of 2016 is present and very appealing. The palate is beautifully formed with with a suave level of extract coating the mouth and fine grained tannins leading to long and complex finish without dryness. A great combination of new and old Corton winemaking that could not fail to impress. Easily the equal of serious Grand Crus from the Cote de Nuits in both style and quality. A simply super 2016 and highly recommended.
