Santenots is a very old and interesting vineyard. Despite its attribution to Volnay it lies entirely within Meursault. The clay in the soil produces wines of full body and rich texture. Jasper Morris MW states “This has always been a highly-reputed site amongst the Volnay Premier Crus rated as Tete de Cuvee by both Lavelle and Rodier – though the wines really need age to show their merit." The 2006 vintage is a favourite amongst aficionados. The wines have aged exceptionally well and remain fresh and deeply coloured.
