50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre. Vine age 30-40 years. Cropping level 25 hl/ha. Terroir: Dentelles de Montmirail blue clay. Aging: In oak barrels and enamelled vats for 18 months. Handpicked when ripe, these grapes from old partially destemmed and are vinified in stainless steel vats for 4 weeks and then aged in oak barrels. This rather particular breeding is necessary to "tame" this arid soil which gives powerful and tannic wines. Intense ruby color with deep and sustained purple reflections.
Expressive and complex opening with notes of liquorice but also of coffee, cocoa, small wild red fruits and garrigue.
Concentrated, rich and suave supported by elegant tannins. Harmonious and balanced finish reminiscent of blackcurrant.

Bright purple. Smoke-accented cherry and dark berries on the highly perfumed nose; sexy incense and exotic spice qualities emerge with aeration. Smooth and appealingly sweet, offering floral-tinged boysenberry and cherry liqueur flavors and a spicy jolt of cracked pepper. Finishes supple, broad and extremely long, with sneaky tannins and a lingering violet pastille note. (Drink between 2025-2034)

Not yet bottled, the 2017 Gigondas Prestige is a smaller production cuvée and comes from the oldest vines of the estate (the blend is 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 20% Mourvèdre) and is vinified and aged in French oak. Its deep purple color is followed by a concentrated, medium to full-bodied Gigondas that has complex notes of blackcurrants, cedary herbs, pepper, and crushed mint. It has good acidity, present yet ripe tannins, and a great finish, and is certainly a beautiful Gigondas in the making. Unfortunately, there are only 700 cases made.
