The Cotes-du-Rhone Villages AOC was established in 1966-1967. It sits between the generic Cotes-du-Rhone AOC and appellations like Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Grenache must make up at least 50% of the wine. The additional intensity and quality of these wines often sees them labelled as mini Chateauneuf-du-Pape. They are terrific value.
