The history of the PIGUET-GIRARDIN estate is quite brief. Anne-Marie and Dominique united in 1985 and created the domain with the eponymous name. The two young people were then under 30 years old and both from families with a secular winemaking tradition (more than 10 generations). Anne Marie is from the Girardin family of Santenay (which includes Justin Girardin in our portfolio) and Dominique from the Piguet family from Auxey-Duresses.
They initially gathered 6 hectares inherited on both sides from their parents as well as sharecropping exploited by Dominique before their meeting.
At the beginning of the 1990s everything changed, the biggest owner of sharecropping sold; the survival of the domain was jeopardized. However, Dominique and Anne Marie redoubled their efforts and did not let themselves be discouraged. They decide to embark on very heavy investments such as the acquisition of plots of vines and the extension of the winery in order to no longer find themselves in such a situation.
The estate then grew through acquisitions in the villages of Auxey-Duresses, Pommard, Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault throughout the 1990s and 2000s.

Meursault is bordered from north to south, passing by the west, by Volnay, Monthélie, Auxey-duresses and Puligny-montrachet. Famous for its centuries of history, Meursault gives birth to great white wines of historical and international renown. Our Meursault Village comes from 3 plots: Limozin, Gruyaches and Vireuils. These last two are located on the edge of the first growths (Les Charmes and Les Genevrières) which will bring the deep fruity, powerful side and the Vireuil them will bring the mineral and hazelnut/almond side with a nice tension. From this blend, a golden robe emerges. The nose offers notes of ripe white fruit. The palate is round, complex and ample on the attack. The finish is round and fine, always on the freshness, yellow fruit and almond, with a mineral touch. Aged 100% in oak barrels for 12 months with regular stirring (40% new barrels), this concentration of new barrels allows the powerful, full and gourmet character of these climates to be expressed, like salt on meat racy. Vines were planted in 1980.
