The history of the PIGUET-GIRARDIN estate is quite brief. Anne-Marie and Dominique united in 1985 and created the domain with the eponymous name. The two young people were then under 30 years old and both from families with a secular winemaking tradition (more than 10 generations). Anne Marie is from the Girardin family of Santenay (which includes Justin Girardin in our portfolio) and Dominique from the Piguet family from Auxey-Duresses.
They initially gathered 6 hectares inherited on both sides from their parents as well as sharecropping exploited by Dominique before their meeting.
At the beginning of the 1990s everything changed, the biggest owner of sharecropping sold; the survival of the domain was jeopardized. However, Dominique and Anne Marie redoubled their efforts and did not let themselves be discouraged. They decide to embark on very heavy investments such as the acquisition of plots of vines and the extension of the winery in order to no longer find themselves in such a situation.

To the south of the Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet, territory of the grands crus of which Montrachet is the most emblematic, offers the vines an east-south-east facing hillside between Puligny-Montrachet and Santenay. They produce wines made for laying down. The cuvée comes from Clos Charreau, which is one of the climats federated under the name of Morgeot (a climate within a climate). The soils are stony, calcareous with a little clay, well drained with a slight slope. A pale yellow color with lemon highlights. The nose offers notes of pear and yellow peach coupled with notes of vanilla. The palate is balanced, full of fruit with a hint of smoke. The finish is long without being heavy. Aged 100% in oak barrels for 12 months with regular stirring (30% new barrels). Vines were planted in 2008.
