The deepest purple to date. A little plumper fruit perhaps on the nose but at this stage more backward and not showing the nuance of the straight Volnay. However, the palate has a lovely mouthfeel to it, raspberry and strawberry with a fresh underlay, very well balanced, and with fine persistence.

The 2020 Volnay Les Pluchots comes from a single parcel just below the Premier Crus. Good delineation on the nose here, blackberry and raspberry fruit, touches of blood orange, the chalky soils expressed well. The palate is medium-bodied with the 30% new oak neatly assimilated, gentle grip witih just a final touch of white pepper on the finish. Fine. (Drink between 2025-2038)
