The Volnay Santenots is a delightful wine in the making. Also vinified without SO2 (June 21st 2017) and is very expressive and cool. The nose is brimming with red and dark fruit - spurred by a fine vibrant minerality. On the palate both generous, complex and offering considerable depth. Perhaps more on the hedonistic side than the Clos de Chene - but still a both serious and charming effort. Make no mistake - it’s forward and generous - yet it’s not lacking depth and complexity.
The Fine Wine Review
26.7 hl/ha. No SO2 yet added. The nose shows spiced blackberries. The mouth is dense with good structure, very deep blackberry fruit, and overall balance. It is a very good representation of wine from the Santenots vineyard.
