Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report"
Right in the middle of the 1ers at the top of the vineyard. Quite deep soil but with lots of small rocks.
The nose here again a bit less pure. Racy, fresh, cool fruit - ooh - that’s impressive. I think this will be a really excellent wine - I just love the shape of it.

The Volnay Ronceret is a step up in both definition and weight; generous, and rather classic Volnay. Balanced but simultaneously deep and dark, this is border-line concentration-wise, but manages to keep its energy and holistic qualities.

The 2020 Volnay Ronceret 1er Cru takes some time to coalesce in the glass, though it demonstates a little more precision than the Robardelle, the fruit slightly darker and less confit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, quite harmonious with a luxuriant but focused cassis-tinged finish. This should age well in bottle. Just one barrel produced.
