Burghound
Once again there is a trace of post-bottling reduction though here red berry nuances can be discerned. The generous yet lilting flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality on the balanced, harmonious and sneaky long finish. This is not especially dense, but this is a classic Volnay of lace and grace; moreover this should age well on its balance. In a word, lovely. (Drink starting 2027)

At the top on the road between Chevrets and Santenots Dessous - usually the most concentrated. It’s an old (70) vine of almost half a hectareA deeper, slightly reductive nose but still showing plenty of interest. Supple, wide-open flavoured - a mix of the delicate and the perfectly textured here - such delicious Volnay fruit and a nice depth to the flavour too. Cliché delicious Volnay.

The 2019 Volnay Robardelle 1er Cru comes from a 0.40-hectare parcel of 60 and 80-year-old vines that always yield around 20hl/ha (three and a half barrels this year.) The bouquet is very well defined with gorgeous wild strawberry, cassis and violet aromas, almost Vosne-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, sweet and generous with blackcurrant pastilles and a touch of cassis again towards the sorbet-like finish. Very seductive.
