Darren Harris

Deep magenta, purple-carmine centre. Intense plum, crushed woody spices (nutmeg, cloves, mace), hummus and liquorice. It starts out a little sombre but in the glass it slowly unfurls to show more nuance and serious length on the palate. More lifted than the Clos des Chenes with bitter cherry, ginger and cardamon notes showing. Wilder with more tension.

Bill Nanson "The Burgundy Report"

From the northern side of the vineyard, close to Carelles Sous la Chapelle. ‘I often thought our young Champans a little hard, I’ve worked on that’A depth and slight vibration of aroma, but it’s tighter above. Driving, pure dark fruit, an almost volatile impression yet this is cool-fruited - this seems to be the oak as it’s the same on the nose.

The Fine Wine Review

The nose shows red cherries. The mouth has dark fruits, Champans fleshiness and sensuality, the finesse one often finds in the vintage, good length, a silky texture, and a touch of spice. Very nicely done. From vines that are about 35 years-old
