The Domaine Michaut story begins in the 1960’s in the heart of Chablis. Henri Michaut tended just 2 hectares of vines as well as the livestock and fields.
His three sons Jean, Christian and Bernard joined him in turn, starting with Jean in 1970, followed by Bernard in 1974 and Christian in 1990.
Throught the 1990's the holdings grew to 25 hectares and in 2011 the decision was made to estate bottle the wines rather than selling to the “La Chablisienne” cooperative cellar.
Adrien, Bernard’s son, joined the estate in 2010 and is now the sole manager. Since his arrival, the estate has continued to grow and today comprises some 53 hectares of vines and a modern winery.
The winery is located in Biene close to Chablis, built on the classic soil of the region, kimmeridgien, underpining the 53 hectares of vineyards. These wines show great typicity, steely acidity, plenty of fruit with that unmistakeable note of flinty "terroir".
From vines located near Chichee. Crisp, cool and classically Chablis on the palate. Very nicely done. Not the heftiest or most concentrated but lots of purity and finesse on show here. Will appeal to Chablis aficionados. (Drink between 2023-2026). 88 Points
Domaine Michaut wines always show steely acidity, plenty of fruit with that unmistakeable note of flinty "terroir". This mineral driven Chablis has fresh floral notes and a hint of salinity.
