The vineyard dates back to 1903 and since 1975 they have stopped replacing missing vines, so as not to dilute the overall age. Vinification begins with whole bunches which are then removed and destemmed
The vines were planted in 1903, and those which die off are not replaced. A generous four barrels could be produced in 2022. The slightly curious vinification method is to start off with 100% whole bunch and then take all the fruit out and destem half way through. Rich deep purple. The nose is rather reductive but blows off to show a deeply concentrated and quite tightly wound dark berry fruit. Just a little toasty. Massive density here but not over opulent by any means. A significant tannic structure behind which it can easily cope with. Fair length, a wine which needs more elevage. Purity throughout the palate despite the reductive nose. Drink from 2028-2036. 92-94 Points
