On an old quarry below Mazis-Chambertin. 2 parcels of vines; one planted in 1982, the older one in the 1940s. The bedrock is ever present and fissures allow the roots to penetrate deep down. On a gentle slope, the vines face the rising sun.
Intense mid purple colour. The nose shows a little oak but it is predominantly the power of the grape on offer. This is so different from the lighter wines of the vintage made in more difficult appellations. Dark raspberry fruit, firm but fine tannins, good length. Drink from 2026-2032. 91-93 Points
