Normanby Wines
Pale gold with luminous clarity, Jean Chartron Puligny-Montrachet 2022 (100% Chardonnay) opens with a delicate, floral-driven bouquet—acacia blossom, lemon peel, green pear, and chalky stone, gently accented by almond and subtle oak. Sourced from village-level parcels in Puligny-Montrachet, the wine is fermented and aged in French oak barrels (approximately 20–25% new), with lees contact and occasional bâtonnage to build texture. The palate is sleek and vibrant, showing citrus, white peach, and a touch of hazelnut over a finely etched mineral core. Lively acidity imparts lift and structure, while the finish is long, saline, and understated. A beautifully composed village Puligny—refined, terroir-transparent, and marked by elegance and quiet precision.

For its appellation a solid 93. This is very promising, full of energy and tension. 93 Points
A more floral-suffused nose is markedly phenolic in character while displaying pretty spice nuances. There is outstanding density and intensity to the medium weight flavors that are also quite sleek while exhibiting impressive depth and persistence on the firm and well-balanced finale. This is an excellent Puligny villages and worth considering. (Drink starting 2029). 90 Points
A less forceful but still fine nose. A more sinewy, structural wine than the Chassagne – I’m even tempted to say ‘more austere’ but the mouth-watering citrus finish quickly has me forgetting such notions – it’s completely delicious!
Awesome complexity here on all levels - primary fruit of lemon, lime, white flowers, peach; secondary of oak and lees contact. Something in between St Aubin and Chassagne in terms of body, but the acid on this is sky high. Can’t remember when I had such an electric Chardonnay that wasn’t Jura. This will age gracefully. 96 Points
