The unique Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru rouge! Less than 300 bottles produced! The ultimate options wine.
I always like Jean-Michel Chartron’s Clos des Caillerets rouge and regret that there is so little of the wine produced, as I have always wanted to organize a vertical of this rare red Puligny just to understand how it evolves and blossoms with bottle age. The 2023 version is excellent, but alas, there is only a single cask (and this is a big crop for this wine!) in the cellars. The wine’s aromatic constellation is lovely, offering up a red fruity blend of wild strawberries, cherries, gamebird, coffee, a touch of nutskin, a lovely foundation of chalky soil tones and just a whisper of oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, nascently complex and sports a lovely core of fruit, with excellent soil signature, ripe tannins and fine balance on the long and promising finish. (Drink between 2035-2070). 92 Points
