Taillepieds is a much revered Volnay vineyard, Jasper Morris MW suggesting that it is up there with the best including Clos des Chenes. The slope is one of the steepest in Volnay and one is at risk of pruning one’s feet when working – hence the name taille-pieds!
Flamboyant ruby purple. Quite a tight core of dark crunchy fruit which grows steadily. A dark ripe but bright cherry, with a concentration that doesn’t stop it being a thoroughly elegant Volnay. 92-95 Points
The 2023 Volnay Taillepieds 1er Cru is the most floral of the Volnay Premiers from Buffet. Hints of iris flower and peony interlace the dark berry fruit. The oak is neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with a keen thread of acidity and impressive length. It's a tad spicier than the Clos des Chênes. Perhaps this is the pick of Buffet's Volnays this year. (Drink between 2026-2040). 92-94 Points

Juicy and bursting with fruit. Raspberries, generous, juicy, wonderful. Almost unseemly gregariousness; a full-blooded-cherries dithyrambic of fruit. Tannins louche in cashmere. The wine is dripping with I-am-gorgeous, love-me. And it is. And I do. (Drink between 2025-2037). 17.5/20
