(from a .46 ha holding). Super-fresh and remarkably pure aromas of the essence of red cherry and currant are the perfect complement to the slightly weightier medium weight flavors that possess superb underlying tension on the impressively long finish. This isn’t quite as refined as the Carelle, but it is noticeably more powerful while offering just a bit more overall depth as well. 2029+. 91-94 Points
The 2021 Volnay Champans 1er Cru, hit hard by the frost, has an attractive nose with light brambly red fruit and sous-bois scents. The palate has a Pommard-like structure with touches of kirsch and orange peel, with more weight on the finish and fine persistence. Very fine. (Drink between 2024-2036). 91-93 Points
