Darren Harris
Enticing deep garnet with a violet/black centre. Cherry, plum, dried spice (anise in particular), minerals and some smoke on the nose. The palate blossoms with stony, graphite notes with savoury spice and herbs playing in the background. Cazetiers is a great terroir combining the cool influence of the combe with the mineral elements of the northern vineyards. The old vines (around 60 years) add to the mid palate texture and depth and some polished tannins carry the sneakily long finish. This is one of Gevrey’s most complex Premier Crus and this wine has terroir in spades.
