La Bondue faces due east at mid slope on only 50cm earth, with plenty of iron in the limestone. This produces powerful wines, with blackcurrant, blueberry, smoky and gamey aromas.
Black cherry, blackberry, violet and mineral aromas and flavors are allied to a chunky profile here. A dense matrix of tannins turns downright chewy on the finish. Best from 2023 through 2032.
500 bottles from the oldest section of La Bondue planted just after the war. 12 months in new demi muid then 6 in an older one. Almost black purple, the oak obviously shows a bit but there is a sensual deep fruit, quite rich but not too explosive. Ripe rich long and sensual. 90 Points
