The Clos l'Évêque is the best known of the Premier Crus of Mercurey by its area (21ha) and also by the regularity of its quality. Grown on an eastern slope on clay-limestone soil it has pronounced raspberry flavors and floral (violet) aromas.
The Clos L’Evêque faces due east at mid slope on what Loïc describes as a millefeuille of rock. It has a slightly lighter, brighter, fresher colour than Les Croichots and a more gracious nose, yet with an impressive depth of fruit and excellent length. Tasted: March 2020.
Cherry, blackberry and sweet spice flavors mark this opulent yet solidly built red. It's concentrated and generously proportioned, with a firm, mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2032.
