Coudray-Bizot's Echezeaux lies in the climat of En Orveaux.
En Orveaux lies above the top of Clos Vougeot, alongside Musigny and adjoining Grands Echezeaux in the lower corner. It is a prime area and a little cooler than surrounding vineyards.
Burghound considers it underrated saying En Orveaux “...is inclined more towards finer tannins. Growers attribute this to the fact that the grapes ripen later and more slowly, in fact several days later than the climats nearer to Vosne. There is, of course, a price to be paid for this finesse and that is exacted in terms of less power and body.”

Beautiful young-looking ruby. Delicate nose where cherry and raspberry notes are entwined with a subtle herbal touch. The palate is velvety, nicely delineated and showcases more of the same quality fruit, punctuated by a touch of firmness on the finish. Very good potential. 93 Points and Double Gold Medal
The domaine has 0.35 hectares planted in 1959. The old vines add intensity to this classy vineyard. These are wines of style and are not made to impress American critics. They are “old-fashioned” in the best manner. They are not heavily extracted to gain deep colours, nor do they see high levels of new oak. The idea is to allow the terroir to speak and this is further supported by the late release from the domaine.
