Clos de la Boucherottes lies on the Beaune border and is largely surrounded by Pommard 1er Cru Les Petits Epenots to the south and Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches to the north. It is, in effect, a clos of Petits Epenots. This Monopole has been in the family since 1908. Many of you purchased the outstanding 2016 and I am delighted to say that the 2017 is cut from the same cloth. The most aromatic nose of the Pommards. Very floral with cherry, marzipan and violets. The palate is intense and mouthfilling with layers of juicy fruit and a mineral cut. The mouthfeel is one feature of this vineyard that few Pommard can match. There is a velvet texture from old vines and low cropping. The tannins are there but are so well coated by the fruit so their influence is really just a support act. Another exceptional Clos de la Boucherottes and highly recommended.
Clear garnet color. Nose a little closed, floral sensation, fruity (cherry), undergrowth... Elegance, purity, silky in the mouth despite an aromatic contribution still reserved. High potential assets. It would be a pity to succumb too quickly to its charms.
