Caillerets is beautifully exposed to the south and east, moderately sloped, and is extremely highly regarded by the locals. As the name suggests the soil is full of small stones which aid drainage and reflect heat.
Very deep garnet. Powerful, youthful nose with ripe plums, cherry, raspberry, smoke and spice. More immediately weighty than the Clos des Chenes with a generous and seductive palate. There’s a little oak but this is coated by the rich fruit. Old vine intensity. The wine tightens up on the finish suggesting so much more to come with some time in the cellar.
