Until the 2022 vintage the wines has simply been labelled Vosne-Romanee. We are delighted to see that from 2022 the wine has the lieu-dit name on the label - La Croix Blanche.
They own 0.30 hectares of 55 year old vines producing a wine of style that is always delicious and very popular. Where else can you buy Vosne-Romanee at this sort of price?
Typical 2022 colour - very deep garnet, no purple. Upon opening the nose is restrained. Asian spices gently waft out along with dark, crunchy cherry notes. A quick sip shows a wine that is juicy, but structured. The tannins are fine adding length and complexity.
After 30 minutes I loved how the wine started to open. The nose became more expressive, not rich and broad, just more spice and crunchy fruit. Refined and very Vosne-Romanee. There is excellent line.
It is easy to understand why Vosne-Romanee appeals to so many. It is refined, complex and makes you think.
