Located just above the les Bonnes-Mares and Clos de Tart, this plot presents a remarkable pedology: the soil is non-existent. The vines are planted directly on the calcareous bedrock and do very well there; they manage to find crevices between the stones and the rock strata to deeply plunge the roots in search of water and nutrients. Worthy of serious consideration.

40% whole bunch fermentation here. The wine shows its stony origins here, all finesse and elegance. Ethereal cherry blossom with a touch of floral rosepetal stem character. Lovely detail, a pretty floral wine with excellent persistence.

The 2016 Morey St Denis en la Rue de Vergy was impacted by the frost by 20%. It has a delightful bouquet with pure red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit, with rose petals coming through with time. The palate is fresh on the entry with silky smooth tannin, a fine bead of acidity, taut and harmonious with such pretty Morello cherries and crushed strawberry toward the poised finish. This is one of the best Rue de Vergys that I have tasted from Bruno Clair
