From 35 year old vines. Vibrant, deep red colour.
An exuberent nose of red-black fruits (cherry, raspberry) and spice, a touch of sandalwood, a hint of smoke. On the palate this wine shows Clos St-Denis is a great terroir. The wine is deep and silky with great fruit weight. It is intense but light on its feet. The new oak already all but swallowed up by the multi-layered flavours. The tannins are long and fine and are complemented by the citric tang that makes Clos St-Denis unique. Considering this wine was bottled just last week this is a remarkable showing. I can't wait to see it with a little time in bottle.
Closed powerful, tannins bare, light lack of flesh but good depth of mouth. Longer than wide, wait.
