Gold Medal Decanter World Wine Awards 2017.

Deep red. Explosive aromatics. Minerals, spicy red fruits - currants, raspberry combined with cherry tartness. Longjing tea and earthy notes combine with smokey spice and a wild note to seduce the senses. Quality new oak is all but buried behind the opulent and powerful mid palate: very textured with a great sweetness of fruit that (at least initially) could be 2015. The fine tannins kick in towards the end to add line and drive. You could be forgiven for drinking this now but like all Chambertin it will surely close down and demand time in the cellar.

Spicy and stout with a floral and spicy nose. Bags of red fruits and class on the silky palate. Very good indeed. No rush in the cellar.
