Jancis Robinson

Full bottle 1,340 g. From 0.202 hectares of 40-year-old vines grown on Bajocian limestone in the north-east corner of Romanée-St-Vivant.

Transparent garnet. Very pretty, lively, blackcurrant and cranberry nose with admirable freshness. (I am tasting this in high temperatures so have chilled the bottle.) Light but definitely present tannins. I'd say this wine is only just ready to drink and will develop still more complexity. Admirably vivacity in this wine and a neat, confident finish. Only medium body but really very impressive finish. I think you can taste the superiority of the site. 17+ Points

Croix Rameau is all about finesse and aromatics. The 2017 is a great successor to the last vintage released - 2015. Red cherries, cranberries, violets and Asian spice waft from the glass. They are intense, yet ethereal. They make you want to nose the wine again and again. There seems to be something new to discover each time. It is fresh and vivacious, by no means heavy. In fact, the wine is very much medium weight which is what allows the nuances to display such character. There's no heavy oak or winemaking tricks to bog it down. The wine has a defined acid and tannin backbone that finishes very long. Seriously stylish. It's reminiscent of it's Grand Cru neighbour Romanee-St-Vivant in aromatics, intensity and class. I guess one should not be surprised
