Based in Nuits-St-Georges, the famous Domaine Faiveley was founded in 1825. In recent times, the domaine has greatly expanded its holdings across the entire Côte d’Or and now has vineyards at all points of the Burgundy compass.

Most importantly for Burgundy lovers there has been a positive change in style. Once notorious for being fairly austere, there is now less emphasis on extraction and over the last ten years and the wines have increasingly displayed more freshness, purity of fruit and a judicious use of oak.

Today, Domaine Faiveley is certainly one of the most improved domaines in Burgundy. That is great news for wine lovers as Faiveley owns parcels in some truly great vineyards.

For this dinner we join forces with Negociants Australia, the importers of Domaine Faiveley, to present a comparative tasting of 2017 and 2016 Faiveley Burgundies. The evening will be hosted by Thomas Robertson, Victorian Account Manager for Negociants Australia and Darren Harris, Managing Director of Grand Millesime.

We will compare 6 vineyards starting with Volnay 1er Cru Santenots in the Cote de Beaune and progressing to the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin in the Cote de Nuits. For each vineyard we will compare 2017 and 2016.

The wines between the book ends are no slouches. We have Pommard 1er Crus Les Rugiens, arguably Pommard's finest vineyard, Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes on the Vosne-Romanee border, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos des Issarts, Faiveley's monopole located above the Grand Cru Ruchottes-Chambertin, and Clos de Vougeot - Burgundy's most improved Grand Cru.
