Hone your tasting skills and learn more about red Burgundy

Learning about wine takes time. Especially if it is Burgundy. The best way to hone your palate is to taste and compare many wines. Doing so "blind" forces you to analyse the wine far more than when you can see the label.

I have had a lot of requests from regular dinner attendees to do an event where most of the wines are served blind.

So we have some up with a lineup that will test your palate and provide some exceptional drinking.Domaine Felettig are one of our favourites. We discovered them a decade ago and have imported their wines since the 2011 vintage. They have a fantastic selection of vineyards and are particularly strong in Chambolle-Musigny Premier Crus. They are frequently referred to as a superstar of Burgundy and if you have never tasted their wines this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity. The quantities we receive annually are tiny and most of the wines are allocated never to make it on to our website.

For this dinner I have selected 5 of my favourite Premier Cru Chambolle vineyards and we will serve the new 2018 alongside an older vintage from our museum stock. I have chosen a different vintage for each so you can learn more about Burgundy vintages. All of the Chambolle Premier Crus will be served as matching pair but the order will not be disclosed until the wines have been tasted. We will throw a few other curve balls into the exercise as well.

To start we have a run of 4 Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice. This much loved vineyard will not be served blind and will give you an opportunity to focus your palate on the challenges that follow.I expect there will be a lot of discussion with like-minded wine-lovers at the table.

There are only 12 seats for this dinner and do not have the wines to expand the event.


We will dine at Rosella (formerly Project 49) in Collingwood. The menu is still to be confirmed so for the moment when you book in we only ask for payment of the wine portion.
