Stunning Old Wines going back to 1927!
It has been quite a while since our last Old Wine Dinner. Late 2019 in one of our containers we received a lovely shipment of aged bottles from one of our French contacts. Most of the wines were from Burgundy but there were also some scarce bottles from elsewhere in France.
We planned a wonderful dinner but twice covid ruined our plans. 2021 is here and now it is time to do celebrate with a super serious dinner showcasing some extremely rare wines.
We have some very interesting brackets which we will taste at this dinner. Included is a pair of Beaujolais Crus from 1964 (I have enjoyed quite a few aged Beaujolais and they become surprisingly like the Cote d’Or), Burgundy back to 1934 and a trio of aged Chateauneuf/Cahors, the oldest almost a 100 years of age. It is an increasingly rare opportunity to savour wines of yesteryear.

The wine list:
Delas Freres Hermitage Blanc 1961
Societe D'Interet Collectif Agricole Saint-Didier Saint-Amour 1964
Societe D'Interet Collectif Agricole Saint-Didier Moulin-A-Vent 1964
Marche Aux Vins Beaune 1er Cru 1969
Brossault Chambolle-Musigny 1961
Chevillot Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Sorbets 1959
Domaine Du Chateau De Beaune Bouchard Pere & Fils Beaune 1er Cru Les Theurons 1957
Philippe Guillemot Nuits-St-Georges 1937
Philippe Guillemot Savigny-Les-Beaune 1934
Bouchard Pere & Fils Chateauneuf-du-Pape 1957
Jean Pierre Brotte Chateauneuf-du-Pape 1949
Clos De Gamot Cahors 1927
Gilet-Gaillard Vouvray 1953
The dinner will be at Ryne where Donovan Cooke will prepare a classic dinner and the staff are experienced in handing old bottles. There will be 10 seats including myself. As always there is some risk with old bottles but we have enjoyed great success with wines from this source in France.
