A dinner not to be missed!

 

Aged Burgundy is one of my passions and when the opportunity to purchase a French cellar going back almost a century arose I jumped at the opportunity. The cellar arrived from France around 18 months ago and I have enjoyed quite a few exceptional bottles.

 

Over the last few months I have had an increasing number of requests to stage an Aged Burgundy Dinner. A lot of the new wines we sell have the potential to cellar for decades but what do they taste like when they are seriously old?

 

Here's your chance to find out.

 

I have selected 12 bottles from this French Cellar and we will open them in one decadent evening of Aged Burgundy. Each wine is from a different vintage and we have a range of communes to try. It is something of a who's who of the great vintages of the last 85 years.

 

If you have always wondered what seriously old Burgundy tastes like here is your chance. You can try these 12 bottles for the cost of new Grand Cru. Opening old bottles always entails some risk so we will have a few recent bottles on standby to ensure you don't go home thirsty. However, my experience with wines from this cellar, which only came to Australia 18 months ago, has been exceptional.

 

The dinner will be at Donovan Cooke's Ryne. Donovan is producing some of Melbourne's finest classically-inspired food. We will enjoy courses to accompany the wines.

 

We only have 12 seats available (13 including myself) so if you wish to book in to this special evening I urge you to do so soon. Opportunities to drink a range of Burgundy between 29 and 85 years old are few and far between.
