What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon? 12 Different Vosne-Romanee and a 4-course menu

 

We all love Vosne-Romanee - it’s Burgundy’s top red wine commune. To kick start 2019 we have a terrific Sunday lunch planned at Ryne featuring 12 different Vosne-Romanee.


We’ve split the wines into three brackets starting with a bracket of 4 Villages Vosne-Romanee. These will allow you to hone the palate and get an idea of the style of Vosne-Romanee. 


We’ll then move on to the next bracket featuring 4 lieux-dits. Here the varying terroirs of Vosne-Romanee can be explored with wines from all corners of the Vosne compass. 


To finish we have an intriguing Premier Cru bracket starting with the famous Les Suchots and concluding with 3 different Les Beaux Monts, one of my favourite vineyards. There's a nice little menage a trois here between maker and vintage.


We have 6 wines from each of the 2016 and 2015 vintages. They are both great - it is a matter of style as to which you prefer. This is a great opportunity to taste and compare.

 

The lunch will be at Ryne. Chef Donovan Cooke will prepare a matching 4-course menu.
 
Donovan Cooke For those of you who don't know Donovan he has quite a CV. Starting in Europe, he worked his way through the Savoy Hotel, Waterside Inn in Bray, Harvey's in London and La Cote St Jacques in Burgundy. In 1997 he shifted his focus to Melbourne where he co-opened the highly influential restaurant Est Est Est, followed by Luxe (awarded 3 hats in its first year) and Ondine (Best New Restaurant, The Age Good Food Guide).
 
Donovan was presented with the reigns of the Derby Restaurant and Bar at The Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club. He served as Chef de Cuisine for the next 6 and a half years. He has now returned to Melbourne to start this new venture - Ryne. To view Ryne's website click here.
