I think 1971 is the best Red Burgundy vintage of the 1970's. I have not tasted an enormous of wines from this vintage but it is one that I always find exciting - from villages wines to the most magnificent bottle of La Tache I enjoyed a few years back, it always has something special to offer.
Now, at 40+ years of age the wines have hit their straps and for lovers of mature Burgundy we have a real treat.
From Doudet-Naudin we have a Pack of 4 wines from the Cote de Beaune. The Cote de Beaune, less fashionable in its youth than the Cote de Nuits, really comes into its own with some serious bottle age. It is interesting to reflect on just how many of the great bottles of old Burgundy I have tasted that come from the Cote de Beaune. It is a surprisingly high percentage.
And these wines have straight from the domaine's cellars - not having seen the light of day since they were bottled!
The 4-Bottle Pack comprises one bottle each of Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Guettes, Corton Les Marechaudes Grand Cru, Volnay and Pommard. All are wines capable of extended cellaring.
We have only 4 of these 4-Bottle Packs available which I imagine will sell rapidly based on the reputation and rarity of the vintage and fairness of the price. If you would like one or indeed multiple packs please act quickly. This is a very special opportunity.
