Alex Gambal Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie 2011
Burghound: There is enough wood to notice if not actually fight with the citrus and white orchard fruit aromas. There is an attractive texture to the generous and very round medium weight flavors that are already approachable, yet the finish tightens up quickly with plenty of tension on the lingering finish. 88-91 Points
Chateau de la Maltroye Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Vigne Blanche 2011
Burghound: A complex and spicy nose offers up notes of honeysuckle, essence of pear and apricot. There is outstanding volume to the impressively well-concentrated medium weight flavors that brim with dry extract on the solidly intense and persistent finish. This should also drink well young if desired.
Domaine Fernand and Laurent Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Grandes Ruchottes 2010
Burghound: Here the reduction is no longer subtle and I would strongly advise decanting this if you're tempted to try one young. There is excellent richness and concentration to the full-bodied flavors that possess an opulent texture thanks to the abundance of dry extract that also buffers well the moderately firm acid spine that both shapes and supports the racy mineral-inflected finish. This is certainly very good though it strikes me that it's not quite at its usual superb level of quality. A Sweet Spot Wine.
Domaine Morey-Coffinet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanee 2011
Burghound: (from a .7 ha parcel of 50+ year old vines). An exceptionally fresh nose that expresses a touch of exoticism with spiced tea, orange peel, apricot and white peach scents. There is an opulent mouth feel to the succulent medium-bodied flavors that exude a touch of minerality on the intense, energetic and beautifully well-balanced finish. This should also be lovely in time but in contrast to the Dents de Chien this should be enjoyable earlier yet age just as well. A Sweet Spot Wine.
Domaine Paul Pernot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Folatieres 2011
Burghound: (This is very floral with pure citrus, spice and white fleshed orchard fruit scents. This is also quite seductively textured as there is an abundance of palate coating dry extract on the mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors, all wrapped in a markedly dry, clean and linear finish. This is terrific with impressive refinement. A Sweet Spot Wine.
Domaine Roger Belland Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gains 2010
Burghound: A completely different aromatic profile presents itself here with much more floral influence and the underlying fruit is much more white fleshed than yellow. There is excellent richness to the succulent and suave medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent intensity and again, plenty of mouth coating dry extract that buffers the slightly firmer acid spine on the persistent finish.
