Our first shipment of Drappier Champagne is in stock
Champagne Drappier was founded in 1808. Located in the Aube region the house is famed for the introduction of Pinot Noir to area and Georges Collot, grandfather of Michel Drappier, earned the name Pere Pinot, or father Pinot. Today, Pinot Noir accounts for around three quarters of of the vineyards in Aube.
Drappier owns 55 hectres of vines in the estate's home village of Urville, Bar sur Aube. The house style is, not surprisingly, Pinot dominant. The portfolio does include the full range of styles including some exceptional zero dosage champagnes.
The estate's top wine Les Sendree comes from a single vineyard and was first produced in 1974. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines are 70 years old producing a deep and intense wine. It is known as the best Champagne of the Aube.
Drappier is also respected for its Roses which take advantage of the ripe fruit of the Aube. Since 1968 these have been made by the challenging Saignee method, rather than blending.
