Domaine A-F Gros 2012 Pre Arrival Offer. Be quick, quantities are very small

Wonderful quality but tiny quantity...

Our 2012 Burgundy campaign is well underway. It is a wonderful vintage, particularly for reds, but the quantity produced is very small. Burghound says "2012 produced many really lovely wines that should provide for delicious drinking early on yet be capable of amply rewarding mid-term cellaring and in a few cases, they will be as long-lived if perhaps not quite as long-lived as the 2010s. Moreover there is fine transparency to the wines such that the underlying terroir is very much on display. The high levels of dry extract and relatively fine grain of the tannins combine to create seductively suave textures that avoid any sense of heaviness as there is good freshness and sufficient acid verve to maintain the finishing balance." "Another aspect that I admire about the 2012s is their transparency to the underlying terroir. They really are classically styled burgundies but with a bit more early accessibility than the word classic would suggest. This transparency is considerably aided by the strong sense of vibrancy because despite the vintage's relatively high level of ripeness the wines taste alive in the mouth. They're ripe yet they are what the French call digest, or refreshing where one sip invites the next. They have that Goldilocks factor, which is to say that they're not too much of any one thing and are therefore just right."

A-F Gros Aux Reas Label Today we feature the wines of Domaine Anne-Francoise Gros. Anne-Francoise is the daughter of Jean and Jeanine Gros (Domaine Jean Gros) and when the family domaine was split upon her father's retirement in 1996, Anne-Francoise, along with her brothers Michel and Bernard, received some tremendous parcels of land. All three have their own domaines and run independently. Another Gros, Anne (in Vosne-Romanee), is a cousin.

We present the range of wines produced in the small vintage of 2012 from Bourgogne Pinot Noir up to the majestic Richebourg. There have been substantial price increases ex domaine here particularly for the Grand Crus which are in great demand. Unfortunately, this is out of our control. The delicious Vosne-Romanee lieu-dits still remain good value.

Dow 1997

Last few bottles of the Super 1997 Dow's Vintage Port

If you love vintage port this is a wine you should own. Now 17 years old, these bottles came straight from Dow last year where they had matured since bottling.

For the Love of Port: The vast majority of this VP comes from grapes harvested at three Quintas used for Dow's: Zimbro, Senhora da Ribeira and Bomfim of course. Inky and opaque. Scented bouquet of fresh flowers, spice and an earthy note. Full and velvety to roll across the tongue. Rich and spicy on the palate with blackcurrant and dried prune flavors. This was not a pretty baby but is starting to show greatness at just under a dozen years old. This Dow is all about symmetry, from the structure to the complementary aromatic and flavor profiles. Texturally this is already very fine and will only continue to improve from here. There is intensity and power with tons of fruit and chewy tannins for long haul cellaring; plus a memorable finish. A classic Dow that should age well until the cows come home ... or circa 2040+ ... whichever comes first.
