Museum Stock from the Domaine!
There is always lots of talk about which Premier Crus warrant elevation to Grand Cru status. For me, the most worthy wine is Meursault Perrieres. It is a wine that constantly delivers quality and style with the much loved minerality and long spine that makes white Burgundy so special.
This quality usually comes at a premium price as the producers and the market know quality when they see it.
Our last container included some museum stock from Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur. The domaine generously supplied 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010 Meursault Perrieres from their reserves. The 2010 are in large formats which are seldom seen. And the prices are very fair. Meursault 1er Cru Perrieres from many other makers usually costs closer to $200 a bottle.
Regular email readers will have read how their 2010 Meursault Perrieres ran rings around the more famous and much more expensive 2010 Roulot Perrieres at a tasting a few months ago.
From the domaine's museum stock we offer the last of these back vintages. There is no more available so please don't delay.
Meursault 1er Cru Perrieres 2007
In Stock $117.50
A great White Burgundy vintage. Cheaper than the 2011 which is ridiculous!
Burghound: An ultra-elegant and equally pure nose that oozes both class and a distinct stoniness on the floral pear and green apple nose that sits atop detailed and highly energetic flavors that are textured, delineated and all but painfully intense before culminating in an explosive, palate staining and strikingly long finish. This is a lovely wine of superb intensity that should age beautifully. A Sweet Spot Wine. 91-93 Points
Meursault 1er Cru Perrieres 2009
In Stock $117.50
Burghound: A background hint of wood sets off a well-layered nose of mineral reduction, pear and elegant floral aromas that complement perfectly the stony, vibrant, detailed, intense and even more precise flavors that display real drive and punch on the refined and admirably persistent finish. A classically styled Perrières. A Sweet Spot Wine. 91 Points
Meursault 1er Cru Perrieres 2011
In Stock $134.50
Burghound: A pungent combination of sulfur and reduction renders the nose unreadable. There is excellent punch and precision to the intensely mineral-driven middle weight flavors that display enough dry extract to buffer the firm acid spine that shapes the clean, dry and lemon-infused finish. This is a classic Perrières that should amply reward up to a decade of cellar time. One to strongly consider. A Sweet Spot Wine. 92 Points
