Jean-Pierre Cornut, the owner of Chateau de la Maltroye, is one of the superstars of the Cote de Beaune. We have been telling our customers for years just how good his wines are. In 2011 he has blitzed the field.
His Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanee is Burghound's highest rated Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru of the vintage. It is the only wine to score 94 Points. To put this into perspective this is higher than Domaine Leflaive's Batard-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet (both Grand Crus score 92-94 Points) and 1er Cru Pucelles (91-94 Points).
To celebrate Chateau de la Maltroye's success for a very limited time we offer their stunning 2011's at our original Pre Arrival Prices. The wines are in stock for immediate delivery. Make sure you check out the full range as there are 4 Maltroye wines in the top 18!
Chateau de la Maltroye Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanee 2011
Burghound: (there is almost no topsoil in this particular parcel and the vines grow into fragmented, heavily fissured rock). An overtly exotic nose is comprised of highly spiced tea, various dried yellow orchard fruit scents and floral nuances. There is a simply amazing amount of concentration to the middle weight plus flavors that seem to possess a limitless amount of dry extract that imparts a succulent, even opulent mouth feel to the almost painfully intense finish that just goes on and on. This is a stunning and very powerful Chassagne 1er and well worth your attention. A Sweet Spot Wine. 94 Points
