Three Super Premium Chateauneuf-du-Papes

3 Premium Chateauneufs

Incredible wines from 3 Top Estates....

The quality of wine from Chateauneuf-du-Pape can be truly breathtaking. There are a preponderance of seriously old vines that when handled properly can produce wines of exceptional complexity.
We present three of the best from our portfolio. These wines are all produced in quite small quantities and availability is limited. Magnums can be quite rare!
Domaine de la Janasse Vieilles Vignes 2011
750ml bottle Normal Price $217.95
Pre Arrival Price $185.00
Always a contender for wine of the vintage.
Janasse 2010 VV Label
The Rhone Report:
Easily the most rich and concentrated, the 2011 Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes might just be the wine of the vintage. A blend of 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and the balance a mix of varieties, aged 25% in barrel (40% of which are new), it offers up aromas of blackberry liqueur, roasted meats, graphite, licorice, and wet stone-like minerality. Full-bodied, lavishly textured, fresh, and surprisingly structured, with big, mouth coating tannin and good acidity, it will be one of the few 2011s to require bottle age, as well as one of the longer-lived wines in the vintage. 93-

Simian Hippolytes 2010 The Rhone Report:
An incredible old vine cuvée (95% Grenache and 5% assorted varieties, from vines planted in 1888 and 1948) that's aged all in tank, the 2010 Château Simian Châteauneuf-du-Pape les Grandes Grenachieres d'Hippolyte offers up a pure, essence of Grenache-like profile of sweet black raspberries, lavender, melted licorice, and assorted wild flower like aromas and flavors. Voluptuous, hedonistic, and with layers of sweet fruit, it flows onto the palate with no hard edges, awesome purity of fruit, and masses of sweet, velvety tannin. Full-bodied and incredibly concentration and rich through the mid-palate, it stays gorgeously focused and clean on the finish. It's knockout stuff that should shine for upwards of two decades. Decant if drinking anytime soon. 96 Points

Cristia Renaissance 2010 Label
The Rhone Report:
In contrast, the 2010 Domaine de Cristia Châteauneuf-du-Pape Renaissance - a 60/40 blend of Grenache and Mourvedre - is aged all in barrel, with the Grenache seeing only neutral oak and the Mourvedre aged all in new oak. Showing spectacularly, it offers a thrilling array of blackberry, cassis, wild herbs, flowers, and roasted meats, with only a hint of graphite showing from its stint in barrel. Every bit as good on the palate, with brilliant freshness, fantastic purity, and a powerful, yet focused overall mouth-feel, this knockout offering needs a solid 4-6 years of bottle age, and will have upwards of two decades of overall longevity. 97 Points

Clusel Grandes Places

And some top Cote-Rotie from an Artisan Producer

The tiny Domaine Clusel was established in 1969 by Rene Clusel. In 1989 his son Gilbert changed the name to Clusel-Roch, roch being his wife's family name.

Today the propery is still tiny (even by Burgundy standards!) with just 3.5 hectares of Cote-Rotie and 0.5 hectares in Condrieu. The domaine also has vines in the Coteaux de Lyonnais.

With annual production of about 1250 cases per year, Domaine Clusel-Roch is able to focus all their attention on each aspect of the winemaking, from vine to bottle, and it shows!

We have small stocks of all 3 Cote-Roties available including some Rare MAGNUMS.
