Domaine Chantal Lesure's 18 hectares of vines stretch from Beaune to Vougeot. They have slipped under the radar of the major English-speaking wine writers but are well respected by the French critics. Bettane and Desseauve in Les Grand Guide des Vins de France describe the domaine as "Now here is a serious domaine, which owns vineyards in several quality appellations in the southern part of the Cote du Nuits, where the precise vinifications have found a successful balance between tradition and modernity. The wines have body, vigour and fairly powerful tannins but lack aggressiveness. But above all, its the naturalness and clarity of the terroir that speaks. A trustworthy source".

The allocation ratio proposed by the domaine does not provide us with enough of the cuvees our clients prefer. We have decided to discontinue importing their wines as there are plenty of other fish in the sea! I'd like to clear the stock to make way for new products so we have two super offers (and big discounts on the rest of the wines from Domaine Chantal Lescure).

 Clos de Tart
Save $111.00 a bottle on the serious 2010 Clos de Tart

Clos de Tart in Morey-St-Denis is a very interesting vineyard. Since 1411 there have only been three owners.

The vineyard is a monopole belonging to the Mommessin family. They purchased the vineyard in 1932 from Marey-Monge family who had procured the vineyard at the time of the French Revolution.

The vines are planted along the contours of the slope rather than up and down like most vineyards. This has necessitated some unusual machinery to tend the vines.

Old bottles from this vineyard are very highly regarded and over the last decade the vineyard has re-established its reputation.
The 2010 is an exceptional wine displaying the unique character of this site.

Burghound: A ripe but cool and highly complex nose of moderately wooded aromas of violets, cassis, black berry and anise hints. The superbly rich and velvety broad-shouldered flavors possess outstanding size, weight and mid-palate concentration that coats the palate with dry extract and enrobes the firm tannic spine to the point where it is more of a background element than usual. There is excellent energy and precision to the dusty, pure and driving finish. This well-balanced effort should require between 15 and 18 years of cellar time to be at its best. 94 Points

Normally $599.00
Special $488.00
