On a site dating back to the time of the Great Dukes of Burgundy Domaine Coste-Caumartin has a rich history. The buildings go back to 1610 and the well in the forecourt (which appears on their label) is dated 1641 - possibly the year that building was completed.
The Coste-Caumartin family "moved-in" in 1793 at the height of the French Revolution. Over the centuries the domaine has expanded to 12 hectares with its major holdings in the commune of Pommard.
The domaine's finest vineyard is their monopole Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Boucherottes. It has been in the family since 1908. The vineyard has always been a jewel of the village and 500 years ago it was part of the Royal Domain. This vineyard lies on the Beaune border and is largely surrounded by Pommard 1er Cru Les Petits Epenots to the south and Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches to the north. It is, in effect, a clos of Petits Epenots.
Both Les Epenots and Les Rugiens have applied to the INAO for elevation to Grand Cru status.
I discovered the Clos des Boucherottes 2016 some years ago and it proved so popular that we ordered three times from the domaine - something we had never done and have not done since. We purchased every bottle we could.
Today we present the two most recent vintages - 2019 and 2018. We are too early for tasting notes and due to covid I have not been to France to taste the wines. I am sure they will be every bit as good as the monumental 2016 and 2017 which changed many people's minds about Pommard.
We offer both wines at a 25% Pre Arrival Discount. That makes the wines very reasonable for such a special vineyard.
We also have small quantities of the 2017 and 2016 in stock. We offer both today at a 25% discount - this could be your last chance to secure some of these highly rated wines.
