It has been quite some time since we last offered Leroy's Bourgogne. Each time we do we have a tremendous response.
Leroy's Bourgogne are the benchmarks for these wines and today we have a white and red.
Lalou-Bize Leroy is held in very high regard around the world amongst journalists and critics alike and her wine is celebrated amongst the finest every year. That said, these wines are rarely sent to media and there is very little information ever available on them.
Her Bourgogne Rouge is considered to drink well above Bourgogne level and in an article in the L.A Times by S. Irene Virbilia wrote: "This is classic Pinot Noir from one of the greatest names in Burgundy. Domaine Leroy's lineup ranges from this Bourgogne Rouge to bottles costing hundreds of dollars. And though the price may seem high for an entry-level Burgundy, the 2003 Bourgogne Rouge is better than many premier crus at twice the price. With its gorgeous fruit and exquisite balance, this is no simple Burgundy, and Lalou Bize-Leroy is no average winemaker. Get it before it's snatched off the shelves. No need to put it away: It's drinking beautifully now. Pour it with grilled duck breast, lamb chops or a simple steak."
