Celebrating their 350th anniversary this year!

The oldest British-owned Port house, Warre's was founded by two young entrepreneurs Clarke and Thornton, in 1670 and is considered one of the pioneering houses of the Port trade. Today it is owned by the famous Symington family. Warre's Warrior Reserve Port is the first and oldest Port brand in the world, having been shipped continuously since 1750.

The Symington's unmatched experience acquired over the centuries affords a special understanding of the Douro vineyards as well as an unrivaled expertise, which they apply to the production of consistently outstanding wines from their estates. In the words of James Suckling " Warre's remains one of the gems of Vintage Port and the Symington's are continuously polishing it"

Today we offer the recently released 2017 as well as the 2016 and a series of back vintages. All wines are available now.

Port can mature for 30 or more years so there is not rush to drink. Pop some bottles in the cellar!

Decanter

Based on fruit from Quinta da Cavadinha in the Pinhão valley, as well as Quinta do Retiro in the Torto and Quinta da Telhada upstream in the Douro Superior, this is mostly a field-blend from old vines backed by Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca. It has lovely open floral aromas, so fresh and aromatic, with a touch of green tea leaf. In the mouth it has an underlying dark chocolate concentration with wonderfully pure, sweet plum and wild cherry fruit, backed by fine-grained tannins. It's wonderfully fresh and lithe, with an expansive finish and near-perfect poise. (Drink between 2035-2060). 98 Points

Lush and inviting in feel, with a beautifully creamy texture that lets plum sauce, blueberry reduction and raspberry pâte de fruit flavors glide along effortlessly. Notes of violet, anise and black tea are beguiling in the background before melding seamlessly on the finish. This shimmers with fruit, balanced by depth and spine. Best from 2035 through 2055. 3,600 cases made. 98 Points

Wine Spectator

The 2017 Vintage Port is mostly a field blend from old vines (63%), plus 22% Touriga Nacional and 15% Touriga Franca, bottled about a month before this tasting after 18 months in seasoned vats. The just-bottled sample was not actually used for fear it might be in shock, so this is actually a pre-bottling sample. It comes in with 110 grams of residual sugar. 2025 - 2067. 97 Points

Nearly 50% is made from old field blend vines, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca from the Douro Superior. Very pure violet aromas - already utterly charming with lovely, supple and seamless fruit. Fresh and lithe with fine-grained tannins building in the mouth leading to a peacock's tail of a finish. A beautiful wine with real poise, definition and great finesse. Don't be deceived by the early charm, this is a wine that will last. Drinking Window 2030-2055. 98 Points

Very complex with dried flowers and roses. Full-bodied, very layered and tightly wound. Chewy and powerful. Firm and off-dry. Needs five or six years to soften. Beauty. Try in 2024. 96 Points

Nearly 50% from old mixed vines from Quinta da Cavadinha in the Pinhão Valley and Quinta do Retiro in the Torto supplemented by Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca from Quinta da Telhada in the Douro Superior: open, pure, floral aromas (violets), totally charming at this stage, with lovely supple, seamless fruit, fresh and lithe with fine grained tannins building in the mouth.
