Surprise Header

12 Wines WE think you should try...

In our rather large portfolio there are always a few gems that remain "undiscovered" by most of our clients.

In response to a number of requests I have assembled a MIXED DOZEN featuring a selection of wines that I think will surprise and delight.

They are not always mainstream, but each and every wine has that something special that prompts a "Wow! I didn't expect that" response.

For those with an adventurous bone in their body I urge you to give DARREN'S SURPRISE AND DELIGHT DOZEN a try. It is a genuine selection and for that reason we only have 8 Packs available.

Here is what is in the Pack. If you click the name you can read more info.

Domaine Bernhard Riesling Schlossberg Grand Cru 2010

Benchmark dry GC Riesling with power and delicacy. Always impresses those who taste it. Just perfect for summer.

Domaine Berthelemot Meursault Les Tillets 2010

From the Puligny end. Mineral and citric. Stylish Meursault.

Domaine du Nozay Sancerre 2011

Why drink kiwi Sauvignon Blanc when you can have this fine wine from the brother-in-law of Aubert de Villaine?

Domaine Agathe Bursin Pinot Noir Strangenberg 2010

Who said quality French Pinot only comes from Burgundy? You will be surprised!

Domaine Rouge-Bleu Lunatique 2010

100% Grenache. Low yield, small production, stems, no filtering...

Domaine Gauby Cotes du Roussillon Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2009

Very old vines and low yields. Complex, brooding, spicy, mineral. Gerard models his wines on Burgundy

Ogier Chateauneuf-du-Pape Galet Roules 2009

Very stylish CdP, great restraint, minerality and focus for those who do not like blockbuster Rhones

Domaine Henri and Gilles Buisson Volnay 1er Cru Les Chanlins 2010

Vibrant red fruits with old fashioned elegance. Perfumed and racy

Domaine Gilbert and Christine Felettig Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes 2010

Cool, dark and tightly wound. Serious Chambolle from one of the finest Premier Cru vineyards in the commune

Domaine Jerome Chezeaux Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots 2009

The label says NSG, the palate suggests Vosne-Romanee. Located on the border of the communes this is fine, fine, fine

Sweet Whites

An SGN in VT clothing. Beautiful fruit intensity. Still fresh and mineral and a bargain

Kuentz-Bas Muscat d'Alsace Pfersigberg Grand Cru Vendanges Tardive 2008

Right out of the box! From the Grand Cru Pfersigberg this is an intriguing and very individual wine and dare I say, rather sexy

Ogier Crozes Bottle

Ogier Crozes-Hermitage 2010

We imported a small amount of this wine earlier in the year to evaluate as we don't have much wine from the northern Rhone. Crozes-Hermitage is, of course, 100% Syrah.

To be honest we completely forgot we had it.

I happened to be reading the Wine Spectator and saw the wine had received an excellent review. Toasty and sleek, with espresso and cocoa notes framing a core of plum and black cherry fruit. Shows a pleasant graphite edge through the finish. Rock solid. Drink now through 2017.

Today we offer the wine at what would have been the Pre Arrival Price.

Normally $37.50

Today $31.88 a bottle
