A serious Chateauneuf at a great price
Arriving mid November

The 2016 vintage in the southern Rhone is going to be remembered as one of the best in our lifetimes. It has produced wines with power and intensity but with more finesse than some hotter recent vintages.

Ogier Chapel Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes dates back to the late 1800's when it was established by the Armouroux family. The estate took its name from the small chapel located in their  vineyards. In 1999, the owner of Ogier purchased Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes from the Amouroux family and runs it as a separate domaine.
Clos de l'Oratoire own around 22 hectares of vineyards most of which are over 50 years old. The vineyards are spread across appellation and the soils vary from stony limestone soil in the valley to more sandy soil with red clay and rounded pebbles on the terraces.
Today we present the new Clos de I'Oratoire Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2016 at a 25% Pre Arrival Discount. The wine arrives mid next month and we only have 30 bottles left to sell.

Drink Rhone - John Livingston-Learmonth:
Shiny dark red colour. A deeply set spicing lies within the bouquet, with airs of black stone fruits, dates, a huskiness that shrouds it rather. The palate bears closely condensed matter, is thick, but keeps moving. The tannins have a darkness that illuminates the close, giving it a spring in its step. It finishes with purpose. This can become interesting and varied. 14.5°. 80% Gren, 10% Syr, 5% Mourv, 5% Cins. ****(*)
Decanter: A delightful style of modern Châteauneuf-du-Pape, without sacrificing its warmth and power. Lush in the mouth, it has bright, lightly stewed red cherry and plum fruit and a lick of vanilla. (Drink between 2018-2023). 94 Points

Bosquet des Papes 1989
Superb Bottles Of Aged Bosquet des Papes Chateauneuf-du-Pape from 1989 and 1990
Arriving mid November
We're always on the lookout for interesting parcels of aged wines in France.
Earlier this year we were offered a small group of Bosquet des Papes Chateauneuf-du-Pape from the legendary 1989 and 1990 vintages. The bottles are in superb condition so I snapped them up (see pic of the 1989's above). Robert Parker rates the vintages 94 for the 1989 and 95 for the 1990. They are in his top 10 vintages of the last 40 years. The Wine Spectator has the vintages even higher at 96 and 95 respectively.
Bosquet des Papes has been in the Boiron family since 1860. Over the years the estate has expanded and is now 27 hectares spread over 40 plots across the appellation. Their Chateauneuf-du-Pape contains approximately 75% Grenache, 12% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre and 3% Counoise, Vaccarese and Cinsault. The vines are around 60 years of age.
The wines arrive from France next month. So if you fancy a little aged Chateauneuf from super vintages you'd have to be crazy not to snap some of these up. The condition of the bottles is superb and we anticipate that they will be drinking brilliantly.
We have 7 bottles of the 1989 at $165.00 a bottle and 2 bottles of the 1990 at $185.00 a bottle remaining.
