Highly rated Premier Crus for around $60 a bottle! Remember the good old days!
Domaine de Suremain comprises 18 hectares of vines spread across some of Mercurey's finest appellations. The property has been in the same family for seven generations and is currently run by Yves, Loic and Marie-Helene de Suremain. They have 6 different red Mercurey including 5 Premier Crus. They also have a white from the 1er Cru En Sazenay.
Mercurey, due to its high value for money ratio, is starting to attract the attention of Burgundy lovers. Where else can you buy a range of Premier Crus, with the ability to age, for around $60.00 (or even less) a bottle?
The 2017's follow on from the tremendous 2015's and 2016's. The reds are all 100% Pinot Noir, the white 100% Chardonnay.
To announce the availability of the new 2017 vintage we offer all wines at a 25% Pre Arrival Discount until the end of the month.

Mercurey 1er Cru En Sazenay 2017
Landed Price $88.50
Pre Arrival Price $66.50
Wine Enthusiast- Roger Voss:
On the eastern side of Mercurey, this vineyard is one of the leading premier crus. This wine with its structure and generous fruits is a densely textured and still young. Powerful black fruits are fresh, juicy and developing. Drink this wine from 2023. Cellar Selection. 93 Points
Decanter Magazine:
East-facing and located just above the de Suremain holdings in La Bondue, this is another Mercurey premier cru that was made to age. Structured and firm with lots of scented wood, sinewy tannins and sappy acidity, it's a wine that needs time to ease into itself. Drinking Window 2020 - 2028. 92 Points
Mercurey 1er Cru Clos l'Eveque 2017
Landed Price $81.50
Pre Arrival Price $60.95
Wine Enthusiast- Roger Voss: This firm but also juicy wine comes from one of the largest of the premier cru vineyards in Mercurey. The wine's structure is right up front at this stage, but so are the red berry fruits. Together they are moving towards a bold, ripe wine from 2023.
92 Points
Decanter Magazine:
This east-facing vineyard on limestone soils tends to produce fresh, upright, refreshing styles of Pinot at Domaine de Suremain. This has some tannic backbone and 15% new wood but is sappy and tobaccoey on the palate, with appealing summer pudding fruit. Drinking Window 2020 - 2024. 92 Points
Mercurey 1er Cru La Bondue 2017
Landed Price $81.50
Pre Arrival Price $60.95
Wine Enthusiast: This wine falls on just the right side of extraction. That means that the tannins have a firm edge that needs to soften into the black-cherry fruits. It also signifies that the wine's bold fruitiness needs to calm down. Drink from 2023. 91 Points
Decanter Magazine:
True to type, and even in a warmer vintage, this stony, shallow-soiled site has yielded a serious, brooding Mercurey premier cru. It has layers of tannin, smoky oak and dark plum and black cherry fruit, supported by acidity with a bloody, iron-like undertone. Drinking Window 2022 - 2028. 92 Points
Mercurey 1er Cru Les Crets 2017
Mercurey 1er Cru Les Croichots 2017
Jasper Morris MW: Predominently south facing, though there is some exposure to west and east as well. For the most part the soil is thickish, stony red clay suited to the production of classic red Mercurey. Try it from Domaine de Suremain.
For some reason the domaine does not present this wine at tastings hallmarking it for domestic sales. I've no idea why. Sorry no tasting note.
Mercurey 1er Cru En Sazenay Blanc 2017
Landed Price $86.95
Pre Arrival Price $65.25
 Wine Enthusiast- Roger Voss:
This premier cru produces both white and red wines. Rounded and deliciously ripe, this wine is also textured to give minerality and acidity. It is still young, packed with acidity that will soften. The result will be a rich wine, textured and generous. Drink from 2021. Editor's Choice.
