Bichot 2016 Roche Header
An outstanding wine for the cellar
IWC Gold Medal Bichot's Clos de la Roche is a consistent big performer. The 2016 vintage follows the 2015 as a Gold Medal Winner at the International Wine Challenge.
The 2016 is a deep, rich wine, with power and concentration in spades. It is a real epic in the making.
We have a handful of bottles remaining from our allocation and for next few days we offer the wine at a 25% Pre Arrival Discount rather than the usual 15%. This is a wine for the cellar.

International Wine Challenge 2018
Nose very tight with astringent, slightly green fruit tannins. Very youthful and tight like a coiled spring. Needs at least five years but will be great. Gold Medal.

Tim Atkin MW:
The Bichot teams has total control over when these grapes are picked, which makes the distinction between négociant and domaine wines comparatively slight. This is an impressive rendition of one of Morey's two Grands Crus, with one-third new oak, fine-grained tannins and ripe, textured fruit. 2022-30.

(from Genavrières). A highly complex and much earthier and sauvage-inflected nose offers up notes of cassis and blue pinot fruit that is nuanced by hints of smoke and spice. There is outstanding richness to the powerful, concentrated and overtly muscular broad-shouldered flavors that possess strikingly impressive persistence on the austere, backward and very firmly structured finish. This brooding but most promising effort is quite compact at present and will need plenty of time to flesh out. 2033+. 92-95 Points

Bichot Latricieres
Albert Bichot Latricieres-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016
The soil is clay and limestone marl and Bajocian crinoidal limestone. It is poor and shows a thin layer of silica surface debris from the valley Grissard. "Tricière" also mean "poor land." These characters produce a wine with notes of wild berries, subtle spices and a deep complexity.

Wine Spectator: The black cherry and blackberry fruit is wrapped in seductive, smoky oak. Though dense and muscular, this is also close to seamless, even at this early stage. The finish is energetic and vibrant, with a long, minerally aftertaste. Best from 2023 through 2043. 96 Points

Wine Advocate - Neal Martin
The 2016 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru was picked on 3 October, blended with 35% whole bunch fruit and matured in 40% new oak. I appreciate the nose here: very well defined, nicely focused, a mixture of red and black fruit, a little conservative and straightlaced like Latricières should be. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin and crisp acidity, harmonious and poised with a really classy and sophisticated finish that is a joy. One of the best from Albert Bichot this year. Recommended. 94-96 Points
