They have been a long time coming but at last our 2016 Chablis from Domaine Long-Depaquit are on the way. Apologies!

Long-depaquir_clos_label Tim Atkin MW: The Bichots' two parcels in Les Clos are in the middle and upper part of the Grand Cru. The resulting wine saw only 35% wood in 2016, but is not short of concentration or power. This is still very young right now, with plenty of perfume and fruit intensity. Layers of complexity will develop with time in bottle. 2019-26. 94 Points

James Suckling Tasting Report: Attractive aromas of pears, apples and blossoms with hints of pastry, all leading to a palate that has a smooth and even mouthfeel with fresh flavors. 94 Points

Long-Depaquit Vaudesirs Tim Atkin MW: Definitely one of the wines of the vintage at Long-Depaquit, this comes from the south-facing part of Vaudésirs but was picked early to maintain freshness. With 25% barrel fermentation, it's a leesy, waxy, complex wine with understated power complemented by citrus peel and hint of fennel. 2019-26. 96 Points

Long-Depaquit Blanchots Label Tim Atkin MW: This east-facing Grand Cru is not as famous as neighbouring Les Clos, but makes wines that can be every bit as good, if very different in style. Subtly oaked and refreshing, with focus and racy acidity instead of raw power. Floral, scented and subtle, it's a wine that's driven by acidity. 2018-26. 94 Points

Long-Depaquit Preuses Label Tim Atkin MW: Tasted as a slightly cloudy barrel sample at the domaine, but already showing its inherent concentration and palate length, this is a densely woven, lip-smacking Grand Cru with deftly integrated wood, marked minerality and a waxy mid-palate. Needs time to show at its best. 2019-26. 94 Points

How do you learn more about Burgundy? Reading is informative and a trip to the vineyards can be very constructive. But nothing is better than tasting and comparing wines and talking about them with like minded, enthusiastic wine lovers.

Our Understanding the intricacies of Burgundy Dinner is going to do just that.

We have assembled 7 Pairs of wines. Each Pair has everything in common - well, except for one variable. 

The difference might be maker, vintage, vineyard or level. But apart from that one element the wines are fundamentally the same - at least on the surface.

We will taste and compare each Pair of wines and discuss what makes the wines different. It should be a great exercise and I am sure will increase everyone's understanding of the intricacies of Burgundy. We'll do it over dinner at Yagiz where the food will be a great counterpoint to the wine.
